Yousaf Ahmad

Yousaf is currently the System Chief Pharmacist and Director of Medicines Optimisation of NHS Frimley Health and Social Care. Graduated in 2005 with a Masters in Pharmacy from Strathclyde University, in the UK.

Yousaf has extensive experience within Secondary Care, in the past he has primarily worked in large health boards in Scotland and England and also has had exposure of working in the Middle East. Yousaf has further postgraduates and Masters in Hospital Clinical Pharmacy and Pain Management and Healthcare Leadership. Yousaf has represented Pharmacy at a national level through committee memberships with UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). In addition to a number of advisory and editorial roles at prestigious pharmacy publications such as Pharmacy in Practice, Pharmacy Management, Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice and Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy Journal.

He is passionate about workforce transformation and innovation in practice, including the role of technology in healthcare, during his career Yousaf has worked on a number of projects designed to ensure the skillsets of pharmacy professionals are utilised to the fullest with the help of automation, digitalisation and new ways of working. In April 2020, Yousaf was appointed to the governing council of the General Pharmaceutical Council and therefore responsible for the regulation of all 80,000 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the UK and 13,000 Pharmacy premises. Yousaf continues to work at local, national and international levels, to ensure the best practices of pharmacy are achieved, shared and spread.
