Clinical Lead for Medicines Optimisation

Liz is the Clinical Lead for Medicines Optimisation at KentSurreySussex Academic Health Science Network (KSS AHSN). This is a role that Liz has held for many years during which impactful work around polypharmacy and medicines safety have demonstrated improvement in care through working with partners in the local health and social care systems.

Liz has also acted as a successful sponsor/mentor for a Darzi Fellow hosted by KSS AHSN who developed a project around Deprescribing. A registered pharmacist, Liz has extensive experience in hospital pharmacy and in primary care pharmacy both within the NHS and in the independent sector in senior roles.

Liz was a Board member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Board Lead for Medicines Optimisation for six years to 2019 at a time when the concept of medicines optimisation was being rolled out as an essential focus of clinical care. Liz was awarded Fellowship of the RPS during this time for services to the pharmacy profession. Liz is the Immediate Past President of the Primary Care Pharmacy Association and has been instrumental in developing PCPA as a successful network for pharmacy professionals working in primary care to develop their roles. Recent experience of developing a senior pharmacist role within Airedale Digital Care Hub as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting 800 care homes via high resolution video technology has been a highlight and a proud achievement, particularly when care home residents have been isolated during Covid 19.
